Aadhaar Name Change After the Limit Is Over: Forms, Solutions and Process

Documents Required After the Limit Is Over

- An affidavit stating the reason for the name change. In many cases the Regional Office may ask for it.
- The Aadhaar update/correction form and a recent passport-size photo.
- The EID/URN slip of the rejected request.
Process for Name Change After the Limit Is Over
- Get the name change published in the Gazette as per your state's procedure. For smaller changes (such as a surname after marriage), a document like a marriage certificate may be enough.
- Keep all documents ready, visit the nearest Aadhaar center and submit the name update request.
- Complete biometric verification and collect the EID/URN slip. The system may reject it because of the limit. This is normal, so keep the slip safe.
- Call 1947 or email help@uidai.gov.in. Quote your EID/URN and contact number and request exception processing of the name update through the Regional Office.
- Attach the slip, the Gazette/marriage certificate or other document, the old-name POI and a screenshot/message of the rejection. If needed, you can also submit these in person at your state's Regional Office.
- The Regional Office grants approval after review. Keep checking the status and download the new Aadhaar once the name is updated.
Small Corrections vs a Complete Name Change
- Small corrections: Fixing a spelling, expanding a name (such as turning an initial into a full name) or changing the order of the name. A valid POI in the old name is usually enough for these.
- Complete name change: The name becomes entirely new. A Gazette notification is asked for as the main proof.
- Even a small correction may count toward your two allowed updates, so plan all changes together before you apply.
Important Points
- Before changing your name, make sure the same name is used in your school records, PAN, bank and other documents, to avoid matching problems later.
- The old and new names must be clearly visible and consistent across all documents.
- Keep a record of the EID/URN slip, the rejection message and the emails you sent.
- Do not pay any agent or middleman for "guaranteed approval". Only UIDAI grants approval.

लिमिट ख़तम होने पर ज़रूरी दस्तावेज़
- राजपत्र (Gazette) अधिसूचना जिसमें पुराना और नया नाम प्रकाशित हो (पूरे नाम के बदलाव के लिए)।
- पुराने नाम का फोटो सहित पहचान प्रमाण (POI)।
- कारण के अनुसार विवाह प्रमाणपत्र, तलाक की डिक्री या गोद लेने का प्रमाणपत्र।
- नाम बदलने के कारण का शपथ-पत्र (Affidavit)। कई मामलों में क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय इसे मांग सकता है।
- आधार अपडेट/करेक्शन फॉर्म और हाल की पासपोर्ट साइज़ फोटो।
- रिजेक्ट हुए अनुरोध की EID/URN पर्ची।
लिमिट ख़तम होने पर नाम बदलने की प्रक्रिया
- अपने राज्य की राजपत्र (Gazette) प्रक्रिया के अनुसार नाम परिवर्तन को प्रकाशित करवाएं। छोटे सुधार (जैसे शादी के बाद उपनाम) में विवाह प्रमाणपत्र जैसा दस्तावेज़ काफ़ी हो सकता है।
- सारे दस्तावेज़ तैयार रखकर नज़दीकी आधार केंद्र पर जाएं और नाम अपडेट का अनुरोध दें।
- बायोमेट्रिक पुष्टि कराएं और EID/URN पर्ची लें। सिस्टम लिमिट के कारण इसे रिजेक्ट कर सकता है। यह सामान्य है, पर्ची संभालकर रखें।

छोटे सुधार और पूरे नाम के बदलाव में फर्क
- छोटे सुधार: स्पेलिंग ठीक करना, नाम का विस्तार करना (जैसे इनिशियल को पूरा नाम बनाना) या नाम का क्रम बदलना। इसके लिए आम तौर पर पुराने नाम का मान्य POI काफ़ी होता है।
- पूरे नाम का बदलाव: नाम बिल्कुल नया हो जाए। इसमें राजपत्र अधिसूचना मुख्य प्रमाण के रूप में मांगी जाती है।
- छोटा सुधार भी आपकी दो बार की गिनती में जुड़ सकता है, इसलिए अपडेट कराने से पहले सारे बदलाव एक साथ सोचकर कराएं।
ज़रूरी बातें
- नाम बदलने से पहले तय कर लें कि आपके स्कूल, पैन, बैंक और अन्य दस्तावेज़ों में भी वही नाम हो, ताकि बाद में मिलान की दिक्कत न आए।
- सारे दस्तावेज़ों में पुराना और नया नाम साफ़ दिखना चाहिए और आपस में मेल खाना चाहिए।
- EID/URN पर्ची, रिजेक्शन मैसेज और भेजे गए ईमेल का रिकॉर्ड संभालकर रखें।
- किसी एजेंट या दलाल को "पक्का अप्रूवल" के नाम पर पैसे न दें। मंज़ूरी केवल UIDAI देता है।
