Aadhaar Card SIM Number Check Online: How to Find Out How Many SIMs Are Issued in Your Name
Your mobile number is linked to your identity and many important services. Sometimes someone else may get a SIM issued using your name and ID proof without your knowledge. That is why it is smart to know how many mobile connections are running in your name. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) offers a free online facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal where you can see all connections issued against your identity and report the ones that are not yours.

Latest Update
Through Sanchar Saathi, any mobile user can check the connections registered in their name. It is especially useful if you suspect that a SIM was issued without your knowledge. After viewing the list, each number you do not recognise can be reported as "Not My Number", and numbers you no longer need can be reported as "Not Required". Reported numbers are sent to the telecom operator for re-verification.
Steps: How to Check SIMs Issued in Your Name
- Open the official Sanchar Saathi website, sancharsaathi.gov.in.
- Under Citizen Centric Services, choose "Know Your Mobile Connections".
- Enter your active mobile number.
- Fill in the captcha and request the OTP.
- Enter the OTP received on your phone and log in.
- The list of mobile connections issued in your name will appear on the screen.
- Check every number carefully. If all of them are yours, no action is needed.
- If you see a number that is not yours, select the matching option and report it.
What to Do If You See an Unknown SIM
Never ignore a number that you did not take. Tick "Not My Number" next to it and submit the report. The operator then re-verifies that connection, and action is taken as per the rules. For numbers you own but no longer use, choose "Not Required". It is a good habit to check this list from time to time.
- Select the unknown number in the list.
- Choose Not My Number (or Not Required for unused SIMs).
- Submit the report and note down the request details shown.
Can You Check SIMs Directly by Entering the Aadhaar Number?
No. There is no facility where you type your Aadhaar number to get a list of SIMs. You must use the DoT's official portal, Sanchar Saathi, and verify yourself through the OTP sent to your mobile. So never enter your Aadhaar number, OTP or bank details on any unknown website or share them with any person.
9 SIM Limit per Person
One person can have a maximum of 9 mobile connections in total across all telecom operators in India. Prepaid and postpaid SIMs from Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL all count together. If your count goes above the limit, you may receive an SMS asking you to review your connections, so it is wise to surrender SIMs that you do not use.
Important Precautions
- Use only the official government website, sancharsaathi.gov.in.
- Do not tell your OTP to any stranger.
- Do not enter your Aadhaar details on unknown websites.
- If an unknown number appears in your name, report it immediately.
- Do not pay money to anyone who offers to "close" a SIM or file a complaint for you. The portal service is free.
