Minor PAN Card Update: Add Photo and Signature After 18 Years
When a child turns 18, the minor PAN must be updated so it carries the person's own photo and signature. The PAN number does not change. This is done as a change or correction request.
Why Update at 18?
A minor PAN has no photo or signature, so it cannot serve as a normal ID. After 18, the holder should submit a change request with a recent photo and signature, and identity and address proof in their own name. Banks and other institutions may need the updated record for KYC.
Documents Required
- The person's PAN (minor PAN).
- Recent passport size photo and own signature.
- Own identity proof and address proof (Aadhaar is the easiest).
- Date of birth proof if asked, such as birth certificate.
- Active mobile number for OTP.
Step-by-Step Process
- Open the Protean or UTIITSL PAN portal and choose Changes or Correction in Existing PAN Data.
- Enter your PAN, name, date of birth and other details.
- Choose the paperless e-KYC with Aadhaar OTP route, or the document route.
- Tick the fields for photo and signature (photo mismatch and signature mismatch).
- Upload your recent photo, signature and own ID and address proof.
- Pay the fee, submit, and download the acknowledgement.
- Track the request. A new PAN card with your photo and signature is issued with the same PAN number.
