Key Points

  • Marriage registration is required under the Rajasthan Compulsory Registration of Marriages Act, 2009. Marriages under the Hindu Marriage Act and the Special Marriage Act can be registered.
  • Apply online through e-Mitra or the Rajasthan Civil Registration System, or offline at the local registrar (Sub-Registrar / Marriage Registrar) office.
  • Register soon after the wedding. Several sources say the fee is higher if you register after 30 days, so check the fee on screen.
  • The minimum age is 18 years for the bride and 21 years for the groom. Applications with wrong age proof can lead to legal action.
  • Processing time is quoted differently by different sources (about 7 to 45 days). Check the time shown on your acknowledgement.

Eligibility

  • Bride aged 18 and groom aged 21 or above on the wedding date
  • Both are not already married to someone else (or have a valid divorce / death proof)
  • The marriage has actually taken place, with witnesses
  • At least one of the couple, or the place of marriage, falls under the registrar area applied to

How to Apply Online

  1. Keep the documents ready, with scans of ID, age proof, address proof and photographs.

  3. Fill in the applicant, bride, groom and witness details.
  4. Upload photographs and documents, and check the details.
  5. Pay the fee shown on screen and keep the token or application number.
  6. The registrar verifies the application. You may be asked to appear with originals.
  7. After approval, download the certificate from e-Mitra or the civil registration portal using your login or application number.
  • Rules for appearing in person can differ by office. Follow the instructions shown after submission.

Documents Required

  • Age proof of both: birth certificate, school certificate or passport
  • Address proof of both (Aadhaar or other valid proof)
  • Passport-size photographs of the couple, and a wedding photograph
