PAN Card Correction Online: Change Name, Date of Birth or Address
A wrong name, date of birth or address on your PAN can block KYC, ITR filing and Aadhaar linking. You can correct it online through Protean or UTIITSL, and your PAN number stays the same.
When Is Correction Needed?
Correction is needed for spelling mistakes, name change after marriage or by gazette, wrong father's name, date of birth errors and a new address. From 1 April 2026 the old combined change request form was replaced by new correction forms, which the portals now show automatically. The PAN record is also checked against Aadhaar, so keep both consistent.
Documents Required
- Your PAN and Aadhaar.
- Proof for the change: for name, a marriage certificate or gazette notification; for DOB, a birth certificate or matriculation certificate; for address, an Aadhaar, utility bill or bank statement.
- Identity proof showing the corrected detail.
- Passport size photo and signature, if you apply on paper.
- Active mobile number for OTP.
Step-by-Step Process
- Open the Protean or UTIITSL PAN portal and choose Changes or Correction in Existing PAN Data.
- Enter your PAN, name, date of birth and other asked details.
- Select the paperless option, e-KYC and e-Sign, using Aadhaar OTP.
- Tick only the fields to correct (name, DOB, address, father's name) and enter the correct values.
- Upload supporting documents if the route needs them, and pay the fee.
- Submit and download the acknowledgement (password is usually your DOB).
- Track the request. The updated e-PAN and, if chosen, a new card are issued with the same PAN number.

करेक्शन कब ज़रूरी है?

स्टेप-बाय-स्टेप प्रक्रिया
- Protean या UTIITSL पैन पोर्टल खोलें और Changes or Correction in Existing PAN Data चुनें।
- अपना पैन, नाम, जन्म तिथि और माँगी गई जानकारी भरें।
- पेपरलेस विकल्प e-KYC और e-Sign चुनें, जिसमें आधार OTP लगता है।
