Step 1: Create Your Account

1. Open rrbapply.gov.in and click Apply, then Create an Account.
2. Enter your full name exactly as in your Class 10 certificate, your date of birth, mobile number and email ID.
3. Verify your identity with Aadhaar or DigiLocker, as the portal asks.
4. Verify your mobile number and email with the OTPs you receive.
5. Set a strong password, and note your registration ID or user name.
6. Log in with your credentials to start the application.

Step 2: Fill the Application

1. After login, choose the notification you want to apply for, for example the NTPC graduate or undergraduate CEN.
2. Fill in your personal details, category, state and any special status such as ex-serviceman or PwBD.
3. Add your educational qualifications and marks as per the certificates.
4. Choose the posts and the RRB regions as per the notification rules, and confirm your choice carefully.
5. Upload your community certificate, if you are claiming a reservation.
6. Check every detail on the preview screen before moving on.

Step 3: Pay the Fee and Submit

1. Go to the payment page and choose net banking, card or UPI.
2. Pay the fee as per your category: Rs 500 for General, OBC and EWS, and Rs 250 for the eligible categories, as in the NTPC notice.
3. Check that the payment shows as successful. A failed payment means your form is not complete.
4. Confirm your Aadhaar-linked bank account for the refund.
5. Submit the application and download the form and the payment receipt.
6. Keep your registration number, the PDF and the receipt safe until the exam is over.

Fee Refund

• For General and OBC candidates, Rs 400 is refunded after you appear in CBT 1, after deducting bank charges, as stated in the NTPC notification.
• For categories that paid Rs 250, the refund is usually the fee paid after the bank charges, as per the notice.
• No refund is given for a rejected or incomplete application, or if the linked bank account is not valid or not working.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Creating more than one account, or using someone else’s mobile number or email.
• Name or date of birth that does not match the Class 10 certificate and Aadhaar.
• Uploading a photo or signature of the wrong size or a blurred scan.
• Choosing the wrong category or applying for a reservation without a valid certificate.
• Paying the fee after the payment last date, or leaving a failed payment.
• Giving a bank account that is not linked with Aadhaar, so that the refund fails.

Forgot Password or Login Problem

• Use the Forgot Password option on the portal and reset it with the OTP on your registered mobile number or email.
• If your mobile number has changed, follow the portal’s instructions or contact the RRB helpline mentioned in the notification.
• Do not create a new account. Recover the old one.

Precautions

• Apply only on the official RRB portal and websites. No one can get you a railway job for money, and any such offer is a fraud.
• Do not share your password or OTP with anyone, even a cyber cafe operator.
• Apply well before the last date, because the portal gets slow at the end.
• Use the correction window, if the notification gives one, to fix mistakes, and read its rules carefully.
