Application Fee

The exam fee is ₹100, paid online by net banking, card or UPI. Some categories can apply free, but each free application uses up one of the candidate’s free chances. Check the notification for who is exempt.

Post-wise Vacancy Details

The three biggest posts are Junior Assistant (Non Security), Tamil Nadu Ministerial Service (2,610), Typist, Ministerial / Secretariat Service (856), and Junior Assistant (Accounts), Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation (422). The department-wise list will come later.

Age Limit (as on 01-07-2026)

For VAO the minimum age is 21. Reserved category candidates who hold a higher qualification than the minimum (for example HSC or a degree) have no upper age limit for most posts. These limits are 2 years lower than the last notification.

Eligibility Criteria

• SSLC (10th) pass for most posts, including VAO, Junior Assistant, Bill Collector, Revenue Assistant, Tax Collector, Record Clerk and Forest Watcher.
• Junior Assistant (Accounts): B.Com degree. Some board and corporation posts also need a degree.
• Typist and Steno-Typist: a pass in the Government Technical Examination in typewriting or shorthand.
• Laboratory Assistant: HSC with science.
• Forest Guard with Driving Licence: HSC with science, a driving licence and 3 years’ driving experience.
• Tamil: you must know Tamil, by studying it as a subject or in Tamil medium, or by passing the TNPSC Second Class Language Test in Tamil.
• Qualification must be held on or before the notification date, 6 October 2026.

Salary

Posts fall mainly in Pay Level 3, 5, 8 and 10, depending on the post, and some corporation and board posts have separate pay scales. Junior Assistant and Typist posts are reported at Level 8 (₹19,500 – ₹62,000). Check the notification for your post.

Selection Process

1. Written exam, one paper, 3 hours, OMR sheet (no interview).
2. Certificate verification.
3. Counselling and choice of post.
4. For Forest Watcher and Forest Guard only: physical standards and an endurance walk in Chennai (25 km for men and 16 km for women in 4 hours).

You must score at least 60 out of 150 in Part A, or Parts B and C will not be checked. The minimum pass mark is 90 out of 300 for everyone. Rank comes from this one paper. There is a penalty of 0.5 mark for each question left fully blank, so mark option (E) if you do not know.

How to Apply Online for TNPSC Group 4 2026

1. Open tnpscexams.in and log in with your One Time Registration (OTR). Register first if you have not.
2. Link your Aadhaar to your OTR profile.
3. Select the Combined Civil Services Examination-IV (Group IV Services) and open the application form.
4. Fill in your details so they match your SSLC certificate (name, date of birth, community).
5. Upload a photograph taken on or after 6 October 2026, and your signature.
6. Pay the fee online if it applies, submit before 5 November 2026, 11:59 PM, and keep a copy.
7. Use the correction window from 9 to 11 November 2026 only if you need to edit details.
