PAHAL (DBTL) Scheme: LPG Subsidy Directly in the Bank Account, Biometric Aadhaar Mandatory from 1 October 2026
Under the PAHAL (Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG) scheme, the applicable LPG subsidy is sent directly to the eligible consumer's bank account. From 1 October 2026, Biometric Aadhaar Authentication is required to book a domestic LPG refill at the subsidised price. This page gives the scheme details, the latest rules, how to authenticate and official links in one place.
- New rule from 1 October 2026: Consumers who have not completed Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) cannot book a refill at the subsidised price until authentication is done. LPG supply does not stop, but it is given at the market price without subsidy.
- As of 19 September 2026, 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers (89.9%) had completed authentication. If yours is done, you need not do anything more.
- The Rs 300 targeted subsidy is only for eligible Ujjwala (PMUY) beneficiaries, not every PAHAL consumer. In 2026-27 it is on a 14.2 kg refill for the first 4 eligible refills.

Eligibility
Main conditions
- An active domestic LPG connection of a government oil company such as Indane, Bharat Gas or HP Gas, in the consumer's name.
- The bank account details must be correctly linked with the LPG connection.
- Where Aadhaar-based payment or authentication applies, Aadhaar must be correctly linked and authenticated.
- From 1 October 2026, Biometric Aadhaar Authentication is required for a refill at the subsidised price.
- No subsidy on duplicate, fake or inactive connections.
- For the Rs 300 subsidy, the consumer must be an eligible PMUY beneficiary.

How to Complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication
- Keep your LPG consumer number or 17-digit LPG ID, Aadhaar details and registered mobile number ready.
- At the time of gas delivery: the delivery person can complete authentication on the spot with the oil company's mobile app.
- At the distributor's showroom: visit your distributor and get authenticated.
- Through a mobile app: authenticate yourself in the oil companies' mobile apps using Aadhaar FaceRD.
- After authentication is complete, book the refill at the subsidised price.
- If you need to change your bank details, contact your LPG distributor.
You do not need to make a new PAHAL application every time. On the MyLPG portal you can choose your company and view or update your LPG account details.
How the Subsidy Reaches Your Bank Account
- Book and receive a domestic LPG refill from your registered distributor.
- The oil company checks your connection and subsidy eligibility.
- The subsidy amount is decided based on eligibility and the government policy in force at that time.
- The amount is sent by DBT to the bank account linked for subsidy.
- If the subsidy does not come, ask the distributor to check the connection, subsidy status and bank details, or call the LPG helpline 1800-2333-555.

- 1 अक्टूबर 2026 से सब्सिडी वाली दर पर रिफिल के लिए बायोमेट्रिक आधार प्रमाणीकरण ज़रूरी।

- अपने पंजीकृत वितरक से घरेलू LPG रिफिल बुक करके प्राप्त करें।
- तेल कंपनी आपके कनेक्शन और सब्सिडी की पात्रता की जाँच करती है।
- पात्रता और उस समय की सरकारी नीति के आधार पर सब्सिडी की राशि तय होती है।
- राशि DBT से उस बैंक खाते में भेजी जाती है जो सब्सिडी के लिए जुड़ा है।
- सब्सिडी न आने पर वितरक से कनेक्शन, सब्सिडी की स्थिति और बैंक जानकारी जाँचने को कहें, या LPG हेल्पलाइन 1800-2333-555 पर संपर्क करें।
