- Amounts: The scholarship is Rs 30,000 a year for boys and Rs 36,000 a year for girls, which equals Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,000 a month. The rates were raised from 2019-20, from Rs 24,000 and Rs 27,000 a year.
- Beware of a false claim: A report says the claim going around social media that the scholarship is Rs 36,000 every month is wrong. It is Rs 36,000 a year at most.
- Renewal: Selected students must renew online every year and pass every subject in the first attempt.

Courses Covered
- First professional degree courses recognised by bodies such as AICTE, UGC and the medical councils. Examples: B.Tech, BE, B.Arch, MBBS, BDS, B.Pharm, nursing, BCA, BBA, B.Ed, LLB, B.Sc agriculture, hotel management, design, media and many more.
- Among master's courses, only MBA and MCA are covered.
- For integrated dual degrees, only the professional part is funded (for example, only the LLB part of BA+LLB). When both degrees are professional, only the first one is funded.
- Any other professional or technical degree recognised by a government regulator can also be applied for, with the regulator's certificate.

Keep the originals ready
- Ex-servicemen certificate signed by the Zila Sainik Board or Coast Guard HQ
- Bonafide certificate from the college, signed by the principal, dean, registrar or director
- Bank certificate that the student's Aadhaar is linked to the bank account
- Matriculation certificate for date of birth
- Marksheet of the minimum educational qualification (10+2, three years of graduation or all diploma semesters)
- First page of the student's bank passbook showing name, account number and IFSC (SBI or PNB preferred)
- Student's Aadhaar card
- PPO or ex-servicemen ID card for category 6, and the supporting order or award certificate for categories 1 to 5
If even one document is missing, the application is rejected.
How to Apply
- Open the Kendriya Sainik Board website (ksb.gov.in) and go to the PMSS new application.
- Fill in the form. Use the student's own mobile number and email, and do not change them later.
- Scan and upload all the original documents.
- Submit the form. Paper applications are not accepted at all.
- The Zila Sainik Board checks the form. Correct any observation within 10 days or the system rejects it.
- Log in to your KSB account regularly to see the status and the merit list.
Renewal and Payment
- The first instalment is paid soon after selection in the merit list.
- For later payments, apply for renewal online after each academic year, within one year of the result.
- You need at least 50% marks, and you must pass every subject in the first attempt. If you fail or get an RA in any subject, the scholarship stops for good.
- Renewals are processed through the year except January to May, when new applications are being processed.
- After you receive the money, enter the date and amount received in your renewal form (Column 14). This is mandatory, or the scholarship can be cancelled and the money recovered.
- Old students in the second or later year apply only for renewal, not a new application.

आवेदन कैसे करें
- केंद्रीय सैनिक बोर्ड की वेबसाइट (ksb.gov.in) खोलें और PMSS का नया आवेदन चुनें।

नवीनीकरण और भुगतान
- मेरिट सूची में चयन के बाद पहली किस्त जल्दी दी जाती है।
- आगे के भुगतान के लिए हर शैक्षणिक वर्ष के बाद, परिणाम के एक वर्ष के भीतर, ऑनलाइन नवीनीकरण करें।
- कम से कम 50% अंक चाहिए और हर विषय पहले प्रयास में पास करना ज़रूरी है। किसी विषय में फेल या RA होने पर छात्रवृत्ति हमेशा के लिए बंद हो जाती है।
- नवीनीकरण साल भर चलता है, केवल जनवरी से मई को छोड़कर, जब नए आवेदन की प्रक्रिया होती है।
