Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana: Free Assistive Devices for Senior Citizens, Eligibility and How to Get the Benefit
Eligible senior citizens aged 60 years or above get free assistive devices for age-related problems, such as walking sticks, walkers, hearing aids, spectacles, artificial teeth and wheelchairs. This is not a pension scheme and no monthly cash is paid. It is now part of the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY). - Latest update: The scheme now comes under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY). Along with assessment and distribution camps, services are now also being arranged through designated centres.

The device you get is decided on the basis of the authorised team's assessment. More than one suitable device can be given if needed.
Eligibility
Main conditions
- Age 60 years or above and an Indian citizen.
- An age-related disability or physical difficulty, such as low vision, hearing difficulty, loss of teeth or difficulty in moving.
- Below Poverty Line (BPL) or a monthly income not above Rs 15,000.
- Must have an Aadhaar card.
- Must not have received the same assistive device free from a government source in the last three years.
- The need for the device must be confirmed at assessment.
Documents Required
- Aadhaar card
- Income certificate (showing monthly income not above Rs 15,000), where applicable
- BPL card or other valid BPL proof, where applicable
- Age proof, if age is not clear in Aadhaar
- Medical certificate, doctor's prescription or assessment report, where needed
- Old-age pension or other supporting document, where applicable
Take original documents and their copies when you go to the camp. Local officials or ALIMCO may ask for additional documents.
How to Get the Benefit
- Find out from your district social welfare office, district administration or the nearest ALIMCO centre when a Vayoshri assessment camp or service centre is available in your area.
- Keep your Aadhaar card, income or BPL proof and other documents ready.
- Go to the assessment camp or designated centre on the fixed date. A medical or rehabilitation team examines you and decides the device you need.
- Once your need is confirmed, your name is added to the distribution list.
- The approved device is given free at the distribution event of ALIMCO and the administration.
- When you receive the device, check its fitting and working condition and ask about maintenance.
There is no regular online application form under this scheme. Camp and centre dates can differ in every district.

कौन-सा उपकरण मिलेगा, यह अधिकृत टीम के आकलन के आधार पर तय होता है। ज़रूरत हो तो एक से अधिक उपयुक्त उपकरण भी दिए जा सकते हैं।
पात्रता
मुख्य शर्तें
- आयु 60 वर्ष या उससे अधिक हो और आवेदक भारतीय नागरिक हो।
- उम्र से जुड़ी दिव्यांगता या शारीरिक परेशानी हो, जैसे कम दिखाई देना, सुनने में परेशानी, दांत गिरना या चलने-फिरने में कठिनाई।
- BPL श्रेणी का हो या मासिक आय ₹15,000 से अधिक न हो।
- आधार कार्ड हो।
- पिछले तीन वर्षों में किसी सरकारी स्रोत से वही सहायक उपकरण मुफ्त में न मिला हो।
- आकलन में उपकरण की ज़रूरत की पुष्टि हो।
ज़रूरी दस्तावेज़
- आधार कार्ड
- आय प्रमाण पत्र (₹15,000 से अधिक मासिक आय न होने का), जहाँ लागू हो
- BPL कार्ड या BPL का अन्य वैध प्रमाण, जहाँ लागू हो
- आयु प्रमाण, यदि आधार में आयु स्पष्ट न हो
- मेडिकल प्रमाण पत्र, डॉक्टर की पर्ची या आकलन रिपोर्ट, जहाँ ज़रूरी हो
- वृद्धावस्था पेंशन या अन्य सहायक दस्तावेज़, जहाँ लागू हो
शिविर पर जाते समय मूल दस्तावेज़ और उनकी प्रतियाँ साथ रखें। स्थानीय अधिकारी या ALIMCO अतिरिक्त दस्तावेज़ माँग सकते हैं।
लाभ कैसे लें
- अपने ज़िले के समाज कल्याण कार्यालय, ज़िला प्रशासन या नज़दीकी ALIMCO केंद्र से पता करें कि आपके क्षेत्र में वयोश्री आकलन शिविर या सेवा केंद्र कब उपलब्ध है।
- आधार कार्ड, आय या BPL प्रमाण और बाकी दस्तावेज़ तैयार रखें।
- तय तारीख़ पर आकलन शिविर या निर्धारित केंद्र पर जाएँ। मेडिकल या पुनर्वास टीम जाँच करके ज़रूरी उपकरण तय करेगी।
- ज़रूरत की पुष्टि होने पर आपका नाम वितरण सूची में जुड़ता है।
- स्वीकृत उपकरण ALIMCO और प्रशासन के वितरण कार्यक्रम में निःशुल्क दिया जाता है।
- उपकरण लेते समय उसकी फिटिंग और काम करने की स्थिति जाँच लें और रखरखाव की जानकारी ले लें।
