Against 1,22,303 sanctioned posts in Rajasthan Police, only 97,727 posts have personnel deployed, which means 24,576 posts are vacant. That is a shortfall of about 20 percent. According to the report, 177 policemen in the state have been martyred on duty in the last 77 years, and the shortage is increasing the workload on the remaining personnel.

What Is Worrying
- The biggest shortage is in the ASI cadre: only 5,303 posted against 12,249 posts.
- About 36 percent of Sub-Inspector posts are also vacant.
- The field force is the biggest worry, where staff from constable to ASI is short.
- According to a former Additional Superintendent of Police, work pressure has also led policemen to move to other departments.
When Will New Police Recruitment Come
- Latest reports say preparation is on to recruit for about 9,000 constable posts (some earlier reports said over 6,000).
- A CET Senior Secondary (Class 12 level) scorecard is required to apply. The exam is now on 1 to 3 December 2026, moved from 23-25 October because of the panchayat elections.
- No official advertisement has been issued yet. As per reports the notification may come after the CET result, possibly around February 2027.
The number of posts, eligibility and dates are valid only in the official advertisement of Rajasthan Police/RSSB.
What Police Aspirants Should Do
- Keep your Class 12 level CET scorecard and eligibility documents ready.
- Continue preparing for physical standards (height, chest) and the run.
- Keep watching the Rajasthan Police and RSSB websites for the official advertisement.
- Apply only through the SSO portal or an e-Mitra centre and avoid middlemen.
