- A member pays income tax or professional tax.
- 2.5 acres or more of irrigated land, or 5 acres or more of unirrigated land.
How Selection Works
Unlike the urban scheme, simply filling a form does not get a house sanctioned. Selection follows a fixed sequence:
- Families are identified from housing-deprivation data recorded in SECC-2011.
- Eligible families that were left out are added through the Awaas+ survey.
- The survey records social, economic and housing details, along with geo-tagged photos of the current house and the construction site.
- An authorised surveyor checks self-survey data, and MGNREGA job card details are reviewed too.
- The list of eligible families is placed before the Gram Sabha.
- The final list is prepared after review by the appellate committee.
- Houses are sanctioned according to the state's target and priority order.
- After sanction, the beneficiary receives a registration number.
How to Do the Awaas+ Survey
An eligible family can be surveyed in two ways: an authorised surveyor of the Gram Panchayat visits the house and records details, or, where the facility is active, the family does a self-survey on the Awaas+ 2024 app.
Self-survey steps on the app
- Download the Awaas+ 2024 and Aadhaar Face RD apps from the official PMAY-G website.
- Log in using Aadhaar face e-KYC.
- Select state, district, block, gram panchayat and village.
- Fill in details of all family members and pick a woman member of the family as the likely beneficiary.
- Complete the Aadhaar face e-KYC of the selected beneficiary.
- Give bank account details (these can be added later if unavailable) and answer the house-related questions.
- Take geo-tagged and time-stamped photos of the house and the construction site.
- Check everything, accept the declaration and upload the survey.
Keep ready in advance
- Aadhaar numbers of all family members
- A working mobile number
- Bank or post office account details
- MGNREGA job card details
- Social and economic details of the family
- Details of the current house and the proposed construction site
How to Check the Beneficiary List and Status
PMAY-G lists are not issued in one nationwide PDF. The portal shows records by state, district, block and gram panchayat.
Using your registration number
- Open the beneficiary details page on the PMAY-G portal.
- Enter your registration number or Beneficiary ID and fill in the captcha.
- On submitting, you will see the beneficiary and house details.
If you do not have a registration number
- On the portal, pick state, district, block and gram panchayat in the panchayat-wise permanent waiting list and search for your name.
- Check the list of sanctioned beneficiaries displayed at your gram panchayat office.
How Instalments Are Released
- House assistance is sent by DBT directly to the Aadhaar-linked bank or post office account.
- Payment is tied to construction progress. At each stage, geo-tagged and time-stamped photos are uploaded through AwaasApp.
- The next instalment is released after verification.
- The number of instalments and the amount of each can differ by state, so do not assume one uniform figure for the whole country.
- Payment status can be tracked on the official portal using the registration number, PFMS ID or FTO number.

- PMAY-G is only for villages. City residents have a separate scheme, PMAY-Urban.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How much help is given in plain areas?
Rs 1.20 lakh for the house in plain areas. In hilly and North-Eastern areas it is Rs 1.30 lakh.
Will owning a bike or fridge stop me from getting a house?
No. A motorised two-wheeler and a fridge no longer disqualify you automatically, but all other eligibility conditions must be met.
Is there a direct online application for PMAY-G?
Generally no. Families are identified through SECC-2011 and the Awaas+ survey, followed by Gram Sabha verification.
Is money for a toilet given separately?
Yes, up to Rs 12,000 under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin.
What if my name is not in the list?
Search again with your registration number, then ask the gram panchayat or the development officer's office.
How much is each instalment and when does it come?
It depends on construction progress and verification, and may differ by state.
