Pressure for Bonus Before Diwali! Rajasthan Employee Bodies Demand Full Bonus in Cash and a Higher Ceiling of Rs 20,000
Employee organisations in Rajasthan have put two demands to the state government before Diwali. First, the entire bonus should be paid in cash. Second, the ceiling used to calculate the bonus should be raised. The organisations say the ceiling was fixed at Rs 7,000 in 2014 and has not changed in 11 years despite rising prices.
The Two Demands of Employee Bodies
- Full bonus in cash: According to the Akhil Rajasthan Rajya Karmchari Sanyukt Mahasangh (Ekikrit), during Covid a rule was brought in to deposit 25 percent of the bonus into the GPF account, and it continues about 5 years after the pandemic ended.
- Raise the amount to Rs 20,000: The Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers' Association says the Rs 7,000 ceiling fixed in 2014 has not moved in 11 years while expenses have risen.
- As per the organisations, about 6 lakh teachers and employees get the bonus, including non-gazetted staff up to grade pay Rs 4,800 (up to Level-12).
